Lucknow: In a bid to counter the BJP, Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi party will launch “tiranga shakhas” in Uttar Pradesh on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) lines, party official Sanjay Singh said on Saturday .
The RSS, which is an apolitical organization, is considered the ideological parent of the BJP.
Singh said 10,000 “tiranga shakhas” will be raised over the next six months in Uttar Pradesh to educate people about the saffron party’s “divide and rule” policy.
“The BJP is sponsoring a policy of hatred. It weakens the country and the Constitution. If the situation continues, India will lose its identity. It must be saved,” Singh told reporters here, media reported.
Appointment of “pramukhs” to “tiranga shakhas” will begin on July 1, he said.
“Before the start of the ‘tiranga shakhas’, the national tricolor will be deployed and the preamble of the Constitution will be read to the people so that they will be cautious in the face of divisive powers,” he said.
The “shakhas” will hold discussions on great personalities like Bhimrao Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and Ashfaqullah Khan.
He also said that the AAP will contest the next urban local bodies to be held later this year, in Uttar Pradesh.
