Lucid Hearing Launches OTC Product Line as New Category Opens Today Per FDA Ruling | Company

An August ruling finalized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) opens a market for over-the-counter hearing aids, a long-awaited industry event that Lucid Hearing has been preparing for for years.

The FDA’s decision allows consumers 18 and older to purchase hearing aids for mild to moderate perceived hearing loss without a doctor’s visit, audiogram test, or prescription. Although no test is required for over-the-counter hearing aids, most hearing experts agree that a hearing test is the best way for consumers to accurately gauge their degree of hearing loss. and determine which product offers the right support for their needs (an over-the-counter product or a prescriptive hearing aid product).
