For players tired of being hit by Cassidy’s High Noon, a Soldier 76 player finds a perfect way to dodge this ultimate ability in Overwatch 2.
With the first beta for Monitor 2 live now, players are having a lot of fun testing out major hero rework and figuring out new approaches to the game’s team battles. However, some Monitor 2 players also find the hero interactions amusing, and one should prove especially entertaining for fans of Cassidy and Soldier 76.
The moment in question is an Ultimate counter, which anyone who has played Surveillance will know is incredibly important. However, this is not as effective as Genji’s ability to deflect Bastion’s artillery strike towards him, as Private 76 does not damage or kill the enemy Cassidy. Instead, they just dodge the outlaw’s Deadeye ability, but they hilariously do so. For those interested, a specific Soldier 76 emote must be used at the right time to successfully escape.
Deadeye’s caption is as iconic as it gets, as Cassidy shouting “it’s High Noon” has been a Surveillance even since the launch of the original game. As such, players often know to take cover as soon as they hear this dialogue, though Reddit user FatCosmos took a different approach. As soon as Cassidy’s Deadeye enemy activated, the Redditor activated Private 76’s push-up emote. Funnily enough, dropping to the ground saved their lives, as they were just out of Cassidy’s reach.
When Deadeye is activated, Cassidy needs a few seconds to lock onto enemies – the time it takes for this lock to change based on her enemies’ health. With the lockdown requiring Cassidy to maintain a clear shot on an enemy, breaking that line of sight will allow a player to dodge the Ultimate and live to fight another day. Obviously, FatCosmos was very aware of their surroundings, as they knew that probing the hill behind the Route 66 gas station would be enough for them to survive.
Watching the Soldier 76 player do carefree push-ups while Sojourn and Ana who were right behind him are killed is hilarious. After surviving Cassidy’s deadliest move, Soldier 76 was free to return to the fight. With Mercy from their team also surviving and achieving a successful resurrection, FatCosmos has a good chance of winning the battle thanks to her wits. Obviously, this counter requires very specific placement and good timing to pull off, but it makes for a very fun moment that many players on Reddit enjoyed.
Although many focus on the quality of Orisa in Monitor 2 or how much more fun Doomfist is to play, it’s nice to see some fun beta moments happening with the other heroes. With the first phase of the beta expected to last a few more weeks, many more memorable clips will likely appear online.
Monitor 2 is currently in development.
